No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin

Presented by The Ohio State University Office of Academic Affairs and the Wexner Center for the Arts

Black and white headshot of Meshell Ndegeocello wearing a pinstripe suit.

Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello pays musical tribute to author James Baldwin and his revolutionary work The Fire Next Time

Ndegeocello’s sound meets at the intersections of jazz, gospel, R&B, and singer-songwriter. Thematically the show will follow the arc of Baldwin’s work like a procession in a Black church, from baptism and testimony to praise and resurrection.  Ndegeocello performs here in the wake of her new record No More Water, released on August 2—Baldwin’s 100th birthday. (program approx. 90 mins.)
